How much does a website cost in the UK?
Website pricing varies wildly. Here’s what actually drives cost for UK business sites — and how to budget sensibly.
There isn’t one price — there’s a scope
A one-page brochure site, a ten-page service website, an ecommerce store and a custom portal are different products. Treating them as the same “website” is why quotes online look confusing.
In the UK, serious small-business websites commonly land in the low thousands, while custom applications and ecommerce builds climb from there. Template DIY tools can be cheaper monthly — until design limits, plugin fragility or missing features cost you leads.
What actually changes the cost
Page count matters less than complexity. Custom design, CMS needs, integrations (payments, CRMs, booking), migrations, content writing and ongoing support all move the number.
Rush timelines, unclear decision-makers and missing brand assets also increase cost — not because developers enjoy it, but because rework is expensive.
Cheap vs good value
The cheapest build is often the most expensive outcome if it looks unprofessional, fails on mobile or cannot be maintained. Good value means a site that wins enquiries and doesn’t need replacing in twelve months.
Ask what’s included: design, development, hosting setup, SEO foundations, training and post-launch support. A low headline price that excludes those is not cheaper — it’s incomplete.
How Norvex approaches pricing
Projects are quoted after a short discovery conversation so scope is honest. You’ll know what you’re paying for before work starts.
If a smaller first version is the smarter commercial move, that’s what gets recommended — not an oversized proposal.
